The LGBT community of India is vocally against the BJP and they have an integral role in this debate as the governing party of India, yet most of them were not speaking, thus restricting a freer flow of debate.
The atmosphere in the room was exactly as it should be. Each member was taking his/her allotted member very seriously and personified their every characteristic. The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party even burst into committee with a broom and a hat saying “I am an Aam Aadmi and I want freedom” to emphasize what his party stands for. Some of the members of the AIPPM showed their support for the agenda by passing notes with ‘#LGBTrocks’ and ‘#lovewins’ on them, adding a little bit of the modern era to the agenda.
The chair assured all the members in the committee that speaking in both Hindi and English was completely acceptable and many of them gave it a shot, however, everyone present in committee quickly realized that they should stick to English.
In the middle of the session, AAP's leader was missing from his seat and was found sweeping a floor in the corner. It seemed as if he was sneakily spying on everyone over the top of his broom. Moreover, a member of the Janta Dal (united) clearly made his stand on the agenda known by saying “There was a reason why it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve”. Shocked and scandalized expressions ran rampant through the room as the debate intensified until it was time to break session for snacks.
