ONE TOO MANY PRESS RELEASES [Archives]

Day 3 Session 1
PWSMUN 2015

Prior to the commencement of the session, delegates were intensely discussing their working papers and resolutions. Resolutions indicate the culmination of a conference and allow delegates to feel a true sense of accomplishment. This was evident in the mood of excitement in the air this morning.

The Committee collectively decided to change the course of the flow of debate by diverging from the path of resolutions and draft processing to work on press releases and make the stances of the respective parties clear to the Committee.

A section of the AIPPM, comprising of The National Congress, The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and other parties with aligning ideas clearly stated in their press release that, “We believe that Section 377 must be scraped and are ready to fight this ideal in the Parliament."

An alternative press release by the National Democratic Alliance firmly reinforced that, “We are not ready to scrap off Section 377 completely but are open to amending it."

The press releases encompassed the true sense of what the Committee was debating over and gave it a degree of closure.
