AS THE DAY COMES TO AN END [Archives]

Day 1 Session 3
PWSMUN 2015

The General Speakers' List continued as the third session commenced, and the delegates were energized and ready after a refreshing lunch. The session immediately began with a moderated caucus on the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear weapons. Several delegates brought up very good points in session but the Delegate of Iraq stood out when he quoted the Secretary General of the UN by saying, “Countries are overarmed and peace is underfunded”.
In the midst of the session, the School Director, Dr. Sarvesh Naidu walked in. The assembly rose and acknowledged his presence as he casually asked the Chair if the students were challenging the Executive Board. The Delegate of China was very keen to prove missiles are a major problem as he mentioned the use of the PGS (Prompt Global Strike) as a possible nuclear missile, saying, “These missiles can reach any location in the world in one hour and this is why the use of these missiles is preposterous!”
Once the debate ended, the Chair asked for motions to enter an unmoderated caucus, as he strongly believed the delegates needed to begin the resolution process. The motion was raised and passed, causing all the delegates to finally be more active as they approached each other to discuss possible allies and ways to move forward.
The day thus came to an end and we look forward for a fruitful day tomorrow.
