The delegates entered the room, excited, nervous and eager to face the challenges in store for them in the first session of the committee. The session commenced with the establishment of the 'General Speakers' List' on the agenda: Fighting religious extremists in Nigeria and surrounding countries.
Over the course of the session, the discussion moved into a Moderated Caucus, where the delegates discussed the issues and impacts of the terrorist organization, Boko Haram. Most delegates stressed on the steps Nigeria and its neighbouring countries, along with the United Nations itself, should take to abolish extremism.
